Over the past week, there have been further developments on the trade blacklist placed on Huawei by the US government, which will start to affect the UK/EU market.

B2B Communications has been working with our suppliers of Huawei devices and would like to update customers on the current situation.

It was reported yesterday that Google has “suspended” business activity with Huawei. The decision means future versions of Huawei smartphones that run on Android could lose access to popular services, including the Google Play Store and Gmail and YouTube apps.

“We are complying with the order and reviewing the implications,” the Google spokesperson said.

“For users of our services, Google Play and the security protections from Google Play Protect will continue to function on existing Huawei devices,” the spokesperson said, without giving further details.

B2B Communications understands that current stock of Huawei devices should be unaffected and existing customers should continue to benefit from the full suite of Google apps and services.

As I’m sure you can appreciate this is an evolving story with further developments and updates due from Google and Huawei this week. B2B Communications will be sure to keep customers updated on the situation based on guidance and advice from our hardware suppliers.
